Not sure if this is true but it would make sense to do so.

This is how it works. Public official hive DayZ servers share the same character file. Private non hive DayZ severs will be a fresh character each time as since its not hive only the server you played on will have your character file. The same will be true with Livonia. Public Hive = Shared Character. Private = new character for each server.Also this server wipe only effects Livonia servers.
